At its basics, a moderator for a channel on Twitch is someone who has the power to timeout, ban, and usually the ability to create commands for the bots. This is the simplistic, mechanical description. But to me, being mod is so much more than that.
So let me list a bunch of things in no particular order:
- Greeter of viewers in chat, both old and new (more important than you might think)
- Question answerer when streamer not available
- Organizer
- Tone setter of chat
- Link previewer (if links banned)
- Command runner (when broadcaster is busy)
- Tech support
- Emotional support
- Donater (no required, not even sub)
I'm sure there is more I could add to my list. If you think of something, let me know. :D
